Do you know... What to expect when you receive your new professional style range?

First and foremost, your new range will arrive on a large truck with a lift-gate. We include lift-gate service for your convenience and at no extra charge; without it, it would be very difficult to lower a 900+ pound range to the ground from the truck. Let the truck driver lower your unit to the ground. Our courier's trucks are often also are equipped with a pallet truck, which helps placing the unit on the sidewalk.

Once you inspect the unit and sign the delivery receipt, it's time to unpack the range and get it into the kitchen. We heartily recommend that at least two strong people handle the move. More is better in this case.

This is important: Don't try to lift or move a heavier weight object than you are able to handle safely. Most, if not all professional style ranges have many parts that can be removed right on the sidewalk before you ever try to move the unit inside. This will greatly reduce the overall weight and make the job much easier and safer.

Parts that can usually be removed from the range and reassembled once the unit is in place:

  • Top grates
  • Aeration pans, or grate support pans
  • Burner heads
  • Oven racks
  • Legs or casters
  • Often the oven door can easily be removed. (Refer to the owners manual for procedure)
  • Often the griddle plate (if present) can easily be removed. (Refer to the owners manual for procedure)
  • Drip pans
  • As a last resort, even the back riser can usually be removed, however, leaving it on is advised.
  • Typically, the removal of these items will reduce the weight of the range by 100 pounds or more.

In the event that your doorway is narrow, oven handles or control knobs can usually be removed, trimming precious inches. It is also advisable to cover all flooring along the path traveled with the range with wood or heavy cardboard sheets. These ranges are heavy and made of metal, and can easily damage hardwood, tile, or linoleum if dropped or dragged.

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber and/or experienced contractor. Because gas connections are involved, always be sure to use new flexible or fixed pipe connections and check diligently for any leaks before putting range to use. A gas shut-off valve must be installed within easy reach of the user in case of emergency. (This can sometimes be placed inside an adjacent cabinet or in an easily reached area such as a garage, depending on the location of the gas line.) A gas regulator (usually supplied by the range manufacturer) must also be installed between the shut-off valve and the range manifold. (Sometimes the regulator is already attached to the range, in this case, it is recommended to leave it there.)
